Comparison of the difficulty of two-component marking and cold paint construction

Time:10-27-2020

According to different construction methods, two-component marking paints can usually form four types of markings: spraying, scraping, oscillating and structural markings. The spraying type is the most used cold paint.

Cold paint has the characteristics of fast construction speed, simple construction equipment, and low construction cost. It occupies a large market share in the construction of urban roads and low-grade highways in my country. There are two construction methods: brushing and spraying. Brushing is only suitable for small workloads. For larger workloads, spraying is generally used. The construction is generally 0.3-0.4mm, and the amount of paint per square meter is about 0.4-0.6kg. This type of marking is generally not used as a reverse marking because of its thin coating film and poor adhesion to glass beads. The construction equipment for cold paint markings are all spraying machines, which can be divided into low pressure air spraying and high pressure airless spraying according to their spraying methods. The principle of the low-pressure air spraying equipment is to rely on the compressed air flow to generate negative pressure at the paint outlet. The paint automatically flows out and is fully atomized under the impact and mixing of the compressed air flow. The paint mist is sprayed to the road under the air flow. The equipment principle of high-pressure airless spraying is to use a high-pressure pump to apply high pressure to the paint, and spray it from the small hole of the spray gun at a high speed of about 100m/s, and it will be atomized and sprayed on the road by a fierce impact with air.

There are multiple construction methods for the two-component marking. Here we only compare the spray type and cold paint, which makes sense. Two-component spraying equipment generally adopts high-pressure airless type. Compared with the cold paint construction equipment described above, the difference is that this type of equipment is usually equipped with two sets of or Three spraying systems. During construction, put the paints of the two components A and B in different, isolated paint kettles, mix them in a certain proportion at the spray gun (inside or outside the nozzle), and apply them on the road surface. Cross-linking (curing) reaction to form markings.

Through comparison, we found that because of the different film forming methods of coatings, the construction of two-component marking requires the mixing of two components, which is slightly more difficult than cold paint construction.
